What Is a Traineeship?

LifeTime International are offering a number of traineeships for the upcoming year to young tennis players 15 years or over wishing to become the "best they can be" as a player and / or a coach.

LifeTime will give you the opportunity to train 24 hours per week in their full time "International Program" and develop some sports specific skills and qualifications that are recognized in the tennis industry. Through the traineeship, LifeTime will also pay you for fifteen hours of work per week to assist with the cost of full-time training and competition.

The LifeTime Traineeships are formally recognized and include off-the job training together with workplace experience, high-performance tennis and strength and conditioning programs.

On completion of the course trainees are awarded a formal certificate and an industry accreditation that is recognized throughout Australia.

What Traineeships are Available?

The LifeTime Traineeships offer streams in-

• Strength and Conditioning
• Professional Sportsperson

Apart from the full time "Pro- Tennis" tennis programs on offer, a LifeTime Traineeship will give you recognized qualifications in the following areas-

• Tennis Coaching -Development Coach
• Sports Massage- Level 1
• Strength & Conditioning- Level 1

As well as the knowledge, skills and confidence to perform a wide range of tasks the trainee will develop the interpersonal skills necessary for a successful career in Sport and Recreation

Living Away From Home Allowance

If you live outside the Brisbane Metropolitan area LifeTime Tennis can organize approximately $75 per week off the coast of boarding.

Each month LifeTime Tennis organize professional development workshops for coaches with a commitment to providing excellence in coaching. The workshops are conducted by former Queensland Director of Coaching, Gary Stickler and feature on a regular basis, guest presenters with a background and experience in the topic of the day.

LifeTime has developed a coaching philosophy that tennis should be fun, easy to learn, and require minimal skill to play. As coaches progress through our coaching programs, LifeTime coaches increase their level of self-learning so that they begin to become responsible for their own development as a coach. This is best demonstrated in LifeTime's Pro-Tennis high performance program, a program that gives players responsibility and ownership for their development and success. The program teaches players self-evaluation skills, which allow them to grow from every tennis experience, not just the one provided by the coach.

It is these concepts and the coaching philosophy that technique is a response to the tactics of the game that separate the LifeTime Tennis Coaching Program from all others. Listed below are a range of topics and dates for LifeTime Coaches Workshops held at the Ambiwerra Sports Complex at Corinda on a monthly basis. The cost of the workshop is twenty five dollars which covers lecture notes and includes an "a-la-carte" lunch.

Each year LifeTime also offer a number of traineeships to applicants who can demonstrate the required level of motivation, a genuine concern and caring for their customer, and a demonstrated ability to adapt to different teaching philosophies.

The LifeTime Traineeships are formally recognized, and, as well as including off the job training with workplace experience, the traineeships offer qualifications in strength and conditioning, sports massage, and of course a tennis coaches certificate. On completion of the course trainees are awarded a formal certificate and an industry accreditation that is recognized throughout Australia.

One of the dilemmas facing the majority of families is, "What is the correct balance between too much tennis and not enough education or not enough time on court because of the hours being spent in the classroom."

Because of the complexities and diversity in the education process and the varying requirements of each individual, LifeTime International has appointed a Director of Education Studies with the qualifications and experience to develop an education scenario for each family's situation.

Diane Stickler is a qualified teacher with almost twenty years' experience in both the private and state school systems as well as TAFE and English Language Study courses.

Whether you are of primary or secondary school age, are an international student with little command of the English language or have just completed year twelve, Diane can advise you of the options available and develop an education program that complements the tennis program developed by LifeTime's Director of Tennis. Both programs will give you an opportunity to become the "Best You Can Be" with both your tennis career and life after tennis.

LifeTime Traineeships

LifeTime International is offering a number of Traineeships for the 2003 year. These traineeships are recognised within the sports industry, and on completion of the course trainees are awarded a formal certificate and an industry accreditation that is accepted throughout Australia.

American College Scholarships

Each year a number of American Colleges and Universities recruit talented players to play for their teams in the American College Tennis system. The players attend school for half of each day and train in the afternoons. The teams play against other colleges on the weekends, similar to the GPS. or QGSSSA competition in Queensland.

Tertiary Courses at Universities

A number of players have been able to juggle their commitments in the classrooms and on the practise court and have finished year 12 with a high OP score. Because of this they wish to maximize their "after tennis" career opportunities and still pursue their dream of playing at Wimbledon one day. University Courses are a lot more flexible today than they used to be and there are a number of options available including studying on-line and taking fewer subjects in the earlier years.

Tennis Excellence Program

LifeTime's Tennis Excellence Program is a program that provides tennis training during school time as part of a player's education. The program was developed as a response to concerns from tennis parents that players could not train for the number of hours required on court and go to school from 8am to 4pm daily.

Year 11 & 12 Over Three Years

Players about to commence year 11 at their chosen school have an option of spreading their year 11 and 12 over a three year period. This will give you more time to train on court.
